Proxima @ Gambas

SINGAPORE, 11 October 2025 — Initiated by Tao One (天富宫白龙王) and supported by Proxima @ Gambas MCST, Canberra Citizens’ Consultative Committee, Singapore Wushu Dragon & Lion Dance Federation, People’s Association, and Singapore International Long-Shi Trading, the Project Beat Box was officially launched today as a six-month pilot to promote community harmony and cultural preservation.
The launch, held during the “Beats of Our Community” cultural showcase, was graced by Grassroots Advisor and MP for Sembawang GRC, Mr Gabriel Lam, who commended the initiative as “a forward-looking solution that allows Singapore’s cultural arts to thrive while maintaining peace and mutual respect within our communities.”
Balancing Tradition and Modern Living

Proxima @ Gambas is home to several lion, dragon, and big flag-pole troupes whose training sessions often reach 115 dB — an unmistakable rhythm of heritage that can sometimes challenge neighborhood peace.
Project Beat Box introduces a purpose-built soundproof jamming pod, capable of reducing sound levels by about 35 dB, enabling full-volume practice in a controlled acoustic space.
Tests conducted during the launch demonstrated a 30 percent reduction in sound transmission, proving the concept’s effectiveness and providing a solid foundation for the six-month pilot.
A Scalable Model for Singapore

Beyond addressing a local challenge, the project seeks to develop a replicable model that can be implemented across Singapore — balancing authentic cultural practice with community well-being.
A Tao One representative said:
“Culture should not be quieted — it should evolve with harmony. The Beat Box allows the sound of tradition to live on without conflict, showing that innovation and heritage can indeed coexist.”
Shared Vision, Collective Effort
Jointly supported by multiple community and cultural organizations, the initiative demonstrates how collaboration and innovation can transform long-standing issues into shared progress.
As the six-month pilot progresses, Project Beat Box aims to serve as a national showcase of cultural coexistence, ensuring that Singapore’s living traditions continue to resonate — in unity, rhythm, and peace.
