Strengthening Cross-Cultural Bonds Through Music and Community Support

Today, Tao One Care was honoured to attend the official opening of the newly upgraded office of the Singapore Hadrah and Kompang Association PEHAKS. The occasion marked a meaningful milestone for Singapore’s traditional arts community, celebrating both continuity and renewal.

The upgraded office was officially opened by Associate Professor Muhammad Faishal bin Ibrahim, Acting Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs and Senior Minister of State at the Ministry of Home Affairs. His presence underscored the importance of heritage arts such as hadrah and kompang as living cultural expressions that continue to unite communities across generations.

Tao One Care’s support was an expression of gratitude and solidarity. PEHAKS has been a steadfast supporter of our community initiatives, most notably contributing more than 300 kompang players to the 2025 Peace and Prosperity Singapura celebration. Their participation brought extraordinary energy, discipline, and cultural depth to the event, creating a powerful soundscape that resonated with thousands of attendees and symbolised unity through rhythm.

Beyond performances, PEHAKS has consistently played a vital role in nurturing young practitioners, preserving traditional Malay musical forms, and strengthening grassroots networks. Their work mirrors Tao One Care’s own mission of building bridges across cultures, faiths, and communities through shared values and collective participation.

The upgrading of the PEHAKS office represents more than a physical improvement—it is a renewed commitment to the arts, education, and community service. Tao One Care is proud to have supported this upgrading initiative and looks forward to continued collaboration in promoting harmony, heritage, and social cohesion in Singapore. This ensures that practitioners have a renewed and conducive space to carry out their artistic, educational, and community work.

Together, through mutual support and shared purpose, we ensure that our cultural roots remain strong while inspiring future generations to carry them forward.
